People sometimes ask me if I wear my 10,000 Maniacs shirt “ironically,” whatever that even means. I do not. I love Natalie Merchant and think she’s one of the most beautiful women in the world. I could watch her toss her hair and dance forever.

When I lived in Bangkok, I’d spend whole days listening to this album on repeat. It may not have been the healthiest thing.
Later, when I first moved to Chicago, I tried to go see Cat Power in concert. My bike’s front tire blew, and then I got caught in an ice storm.
